About Me

About This Blog
Thanks for visiting my blog! I am a high school English teacher in Boise, Idaho and have started this blog as a way to talk about my teaching experiences: successes, failures, wonderings, ideas, teaching approaches and philosophy, grumblings about education, excitement about education, assessment strategies, etc.  My hope is that this will be a place for me to reflect on, make sense of, and gradually improve my teaching practices and pedagogy. I believe that good teaching should always be viewed as a framework, an approach malleable in light of changing times and changing students.  Please feel free to share your thoughts with me. I would love nothing more than for this to be a site where other teachers can share experiences, gain new insights, provide expertise, and partner with me to improve education in light of our own individual scopes and situations. You can find the ongoing discussion under the "Thinking Out Loud" tab.  Welcome!

My Current Studies
I am currently working toward my master's in Teaching English Language Arts at Boise State University. My research interests include: active learning writing instruction, English curriculum development, and successful implementation of formative assessment.
